How to assess a workshop hand cleaner sample before bulk ordering
Assess a workshop hand cleaner sample before bulk ordering. Check product identification, safety, cleaning, dispensing and supply for your Perth workshop.
A sample can help a workshop decide whether a hand cleaner suits its work. To make that assessment useful, record what was used, which dirt it was used on and how it was dispensed.
A quick impression is helpful feedback. A short, consistent record is more useful when choosing supplies for mechanics, fabrication teams, transport depots or construction crews.
Identify the product before using it
Check that the container has the correct product label and that the applicable safety information is available. A website link or an email introduction supports that information; it does not replace a correctly labelled container.
If a sample arrives without its label, keep it aside and ask the supplier for the matching label and safety information before use. Safe Work Australia’s guidance addresses correct labelling of hazardous chemicals, including transferred or decanted products.
For MACO Special, our safety page explains the available documents. The downloadable European manufacturer SDS was revised in 2020 and is not verified as a current Australian SDS. Request the current Australian supplier/importer document before a workplace trial.
Match the sample to the dirt
MACO Hand Cleaner Special is intended for medium to heavy dirt in automotive, construction and metalworking settings. Its stated removal range includes grease, oils, lubricants, brake fluid, cement, rust, ink, tar, bitumen and lime dust.
Record the actual contamination involved. Do not assume that an industrial hand cleaner removes every paint, adhesive or coating encountered in a workshop.
MACO Special is solvent-free, approximately pH 6–6.5, and contains skin refattening agents and a 100% natural walnut-shell scrubber. The natural claim describes the scrubber, rather than the whole formula. Our walnut-shell grit article explains that distinction.
Keep a simple observation sheet
Once the product is correctly identified and workplace safety requirements are addressed, record:
| Record | Useful detail |
|---|---|
| Job and contamination | For example, grease after mechanical servicing |
| Product and format | Exact cleaner name and bottle or dispenser |
| Amount used | Follow the product instructions; record any additional application |
| Cleaning and rinsing | What remained and whether another application was needed |
| Dispensing | Whether the format suited that wash point |
| Follow-up questions | Information needed before placing an order |
These are practical observations, not laboratory results or proof of performance across an entire workforce.
Keep safety separate from cleaning performance
A cleaner removing grease effectively does not establish that it is suitable for everyone.
MACO Special causes serious eye damage. If it enters the eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if easy, continue rinsing and call a doctor immediately.
CMIT/MIT preservative may produce an allergic reaction. Fragrance allergens include benzyl alcohol, linalool and d-limonene. Solvent-free and pH-neutral descriptions do not remove these hazards.
Check the format before ordering
A sample bottle does not demonstrate how a shared wash station will operate.
The 300 mL bottle is $12.50, and the 4 L bottle with hand pump is $70.
For a fixed station, the CX-4 dispenser costs $109, with its sealed 4 L refill cartridge sold separately for $60. All prices are AUD including GST.
