Hand-cleaner SDS: a purchasing checklist for WA workshops

Check the product identity, Australian supplier details, revision and workplace access before adding a hand cleaner to your site supply list.

A product name on an old PDF is not enough to establish that the document covers the pack being supplied. Use this checklist with your supplier and workplace procedures. It is a purchasing aid, not a replacement for the supplier SDS or a workplace risk assessment.

Match the document to the supplied cleaner

Check the exact product name and code, document revision and Australian supplier or importer details. Formulations and names may vary between markets. Ask the supplier to confirm applicability rather than adapting an overseas SDS yourself.

Keep the original document accessible

WorkSafe WA says a hazardous chemicals register includes the current SDS for each hazardous chemical listed and must be accessible to affected workers. Check its hazardous chemicals register guidance for the current requirements. This does not establish that every hand-cleaner pack has the same regulatory classification.

Request current supplier information

Safe Work Australia explains how manufacturers and importers prepare and review safety data sheets. Ask your actual supplier for the current Australian document and confirm that it matches the supplied product. Use WorkSafe WA safety data sheet guidance when checking workplace arrangements.

The MACO document currently on this site

Our available MACO Special SDS is the European version 4.0 revised in 2020. It is not verified as a current Australian SDS. Request the current Australian supplier/importer SDS before workplace use. Supplier-linked Deb PDFs also need their currency and applicability confirmed for the product supplied.

Preserve the actual hazards when comparing products: MACO Special causes serious eye damage, contains CMIT/MIT preservative which may produce an allergic reaction, and is not a disinfectant. Solvent-free does not mean hazard-free.

Keep a purchasing record

Record the supplier, product code, pack size, SDS revision received and the date applicability was confirmed. If the formula or supplier changes, check the documentation again. Our safety page identifies the scope of the documents currently available; contact us with the exact product for a document request.
